How often should I drain my cold plunge tub?
How often you should change the water in your cold plunge depends on several factors, most notably:
How often it's used
Whether users shower or rinse off beforehand
Whether you are using a filtration and/or sanitization system
Generally, the more organic matter the water is exposed to, the faster it will become dirty. Filtration and sanitization systems can help counteract this and extend the life of the water.
Without sanitization and filtration, we recommend changing the water after 3–5 uses. With these systems in place, the water may last for as many as 30–50 uses.
Regardless, we recommend changing the water at least every 3 months, or sooner if it becomes noticeably cloudy, discolored, or develops an odour.
Does my cold plunge require setup?
If you purchased a cold plunge tub without a chiller, your tub requires no setup! Just find a level & sturdy spot (not on sand or shiftable material) and enjoy!
If you purchased a Canuck cold plunge with a cold plunge chiller, there are only a few simple steps:
1) Connect the external chiller (N/A for units with an internal chiller) to the tub as outlined in the use manual.
2) Fill the tub as directed in the user manual. 3) Plug in the chiller (through the provided GFCI plug), priming the pump, and let the water cool to your desired temperature. Please note that "setup" and installation are separate/different things. "Setup" refers to getting the chiller/tub operational/functional, while "installation" refers to implementing the system at a specific location in a way that complies with regional laws and regulations.
How do I set my cold plunge's temperature?
If you purchased a Canuck Cold Plunge Chiller, your chiller will have a built-in digital thermometer & instructions on how to set your ideal temperature (it's pretty easy).

The versatility of the Canuck Cold Plunges & Chillers makes it an excellent choice for both personal and commercial use.
How much does it cost to run the cold plunge chillers?
Each Canuck Cold Plunge Water Chiller cools at a different rate/cost. Generally speaking, the higher the HP, the greater the cooling capacity. For more specific cooling/heating costs and speeds, see the product details section of a chiller. Generally speaking, monthly electricity costs range between $15 - $60. The efficient design of Canuck Cold plunge chillers ensures that the fan and compressor activate only when cooling is necessary, significantly reducing energy consumption once the water reaches the desired temperature. However, outdoor costs are often higher, especially in particularly hot environments.
How do Canuck Cold Plunges compare to other cold plunge tubs on the market?
Canuck cold plunges and water chillers are designed to offer superior durability/longevity, ease of use, & aesthetics, per dollar invested. In other words, we aim to offer the best value cold plunges in the North American market.
Unlike many competitors, we don't cut corners with material selection - we use only the best materials that are built to last.
For example, unlike many of our competitors, our chillers use cETLus & CE recognized components, providing safety, longer lifespan, and allowing for legal installation. We also offer both titanium and 316 stainless steel chiller heat exchange options to either maximize performance or longevity. These are just a few examples.
Despite using only the most premium materials, Canuck Cold plunges and chillers are significantly better-priced than similar products - in some cases up to 300% less expensive!
In short, with Canuck Cold you get high-end performance without the high-end price tag.
Can Canuck Cold systems support automatic chemical/sanitization dosing?
Yes, automatic chemical dosing systems can be added to Canuck Cold plunge systems to achieve consistent sanitization levels without manual adjustment (and to meet commercial regulations). Since these chemicals are corrosive, choosing the Titanium Heat Exchange Chiller option is the best choice for corrosion resistance and maximum chiller lifetime.
What is your warranty?
Canuck Cold Plunges come with a 12-Month Manufacturer Warranty:
We provide a 12-month manufacturer's warranty on all cold plunges and chillers, commencing from the date of delivery or pickup. This warranty covers defects in manufacturing and workmanship but excludes coverage for regular wear and tear or damage caused by usage/customer.
Read all product page content to ensure you understand any specific stipulations of wear and tear.
Should you encounter any issues during the warranty period, please contact our customer support team at support@canuckcold.com. See full warranty details at www.canuckcold.com/terms
Do I need to unplug my Canuck Cold Tub when I use it?
No, you can keep it plugged in! The GFCI protection ensures that you won't experience stray electrical currents - even if you spill a little water. GFCI is the same protection that modern homes use in kitchens and bathrooms to prevent electrical injury in places that might get wet. However, this assumes you have installed the system in a manner that complies with all regional laws and regulations.
How long (how much time) should I use my cold plunge, each session?
You don't need a very long time for optimal health benefits - even 2 minutes of cold exposure can achieve optimal benefits. If you're new to cold plunging, it's best to ease yourself into the practice and remember that more is not always better.
You should exit the cold tub when/if you start to shiver (after the initial shock of ~ 30 seconds), as this is your body's first response to protect against hypothermia.
We highly recommend keeping your cold exposure sessions under 10 minutes until/unless you are well-versed.
Remember, longer sessions don't necessarily mean better results. In fact, longer sessions can achieve the opposite. Heed your body's natural responses.
What are the differences in Heat Exchange Materials?
Heat Exchange Material: Titanium vs. 316 Stainless Steel
When it comes to cold plunge chillers, Titanium is the best choice for maximum corrosion resistance and long-term durability, especially in cold plunge systems exposed to chlorine, bromine, or other harsh chemicals. 316 stainless steel offers faster cooling compared to Titanium, but is less corrosion resistant, which means a shorter lifespan. If you're looking for maximum lifespan when exposed to corrosive chemicals, Titanium would be your best choice. If you're more interested in stronger performance in systems without chemicals, 316 Stainless Steel would be your best choice. Shop Cold Plunge Chillers
How big are Canuck cold tubs?
Each cold tub varies in size, so it's important to view the specs of each cold plunge tub in its product description.
How often should I cold plunge/ice bath?
How often you cold plunge, or practice cold water immersion, depends on several factors, including your age, health considerations, and cold exposure experience. Generally speaking, 12 minutes per week, spread over 2–5 sessions, is a good target.
How cold are Canuck cold plunge chillers?
Canuck Cold plunge chillers can maintain your preferred temperature as low as 37°F | 3°C and up to 104°F | 40°C.
What type of maintenance is needed with my cold plunge?
Canuck cold tub maintenance & cleaning is simple and easy, especially relative to other options. Here are the basics:
1) Rinse off before each use. The cleaner a user is, the fewer bacteria there will be to remove/sanitize from your system. Also, keep in mind that circulating water (chiller + filtration system) is more easily kept 'clean', so you might want to consider a Canuck Cold Chiller, which circulates, filters, and ozone sanitizes the water.
2) For prolonged water cleanliness, regularly check and maintain water levels (pH, Chlorine, etc.)
3) If you're using a cold plunge chiller, check your filter regularly to ensure it's not clogged, and make sure to clean or replace it when it is clogged (similar to a home air filter).
4) We recommend draining & refilling your cold tub every so often, even if you keep up with maintenance recommendations and there are no signs of bacteria in your water. Don't worry, draining the water is easy - you can even use your chiller to pump the water out!
NOTE: Automatic chemical dosing systems can be added to Canuck Cold chilling systems to achieve consistent sanitization levels without manual adjustment (and to meet commercial regulations). Since these chemicals are corrosive, choosing the Titanium Heat Exchange Chiller option is the best option for corrosion resistance and maximum chiller lifetime.
What safety precautions should be taken when using a cold plunge?
Consult with a doctor before using, especially if you have preexisting medical conditions.
Immediate bodily reactions to the cold water are expected, but if you begin to shiver uncontrollably after the initial shock, immediately exit the tub, as this is the first sign of hypothermia.
Ensure your plunge is placed in a safe area, where the tub can be drained, where slipping is not a risk, and where no electrical devices can come in contact with the water.
When installing your cold plunge, ensure your setup meets regional laws and standards (grounding, distance from lights, etc.).
Can I use my cold tub outdoors?
Yes, most Canuck Cold plunges and chillers are made for indoor and/or outdoor environments (unless otherwise stated), from the blazing heat to the frozen north.
Canuck cold plunge chillers are IPX4-rated, which means they can safely withstand rain and splashing, so you can use them outdoors! However, keeping items separated from the elements will extend their life.
Chiller systems should be turned off and drained when ambient temperatures reach freezing, but at this temperature, your water will freeze without the chilling system.
How long does the cold plunge take to cool?
Cold plunge cooling time will vary depending on the starting temperature of your water, cold tub size (amount of water), ambient temperatures, and the chiller you choose. Generally speaking, the higher the HP (horsepower) of a chiller, the faster it can cool water.
What are your Chiller, Filter & Pump specs?
