Canuck Cold Plunges is a Canadian cold-plunge equipment company founded by owner Doug Murphy. Based in Hamilton, Ontario, we provide cold plunge tubs, cold plunge water chillers, cold plunge accessories, and cold plunge equipment bundles to customers across Canada’s provinces and the contiguous United States.
Why Canuck Cold Plunges Was Started
Doug’s interest in cold plunging began around the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, when he started paying closer attention to his health. Recurring headaches, difficulty staying focused, low energy, and other concerns motivated him to take a more deliberate look at his daily habits.
He began making a broad range of changes, including adjustments to his diet, supplements, circadian rhythm, sleep patterns, and exercise routine. Cold exposure was one of those changes, beginning with cold showers.
For Doug personally, the effects stood out almost immediately. He felt more focused and clear-headed, noticed an increase in energy, and experienced a meaningful improvement in his mood. Experiencing those benefits so quickly gave him a deep motivation to continue with cold exposure and explore cold plunging more seriously.
That experience led Doug to explore cold plunging more seriously. When he began looking for equipment, he found a significant gap between inexpensive entry-level products and premium commercial systems. Affordable options often lacked the durability, usability, and features he wanted, while higher-end systems required a much larger investment.
What began as a personal interest soon became an entrepreneurial opportunity. Unable to find the right balance, Doug began developing it himself. Over the following years, he tested and refined numerous prototypes before arriving at designs he was confident offering to customers. In May 2026, Canuck Cold Plunges began scaling those products to a wider market.
Experience That Goes Beyond Selling Products
During the early development process, Doug sought clarification on the electrical requirements applicable to cold plunges. That inquiry led to his participation in the CSA subcommittee responsible for developing CSA C22.2 No. 218.1, the Canadian electrical safety standard covering spas, hot tubs, cold tubs and associated equipment.
Working alongside engineers and other industry participants, Doug contributed the perspective of a cold-plunge user, product developer, and customer advocate. That experience continues to inform how Canuck Cold Plunges evaluates equipment and approaches product design.
Our Approach to Cold-Plunge Equipment
Our mission is to make thoughtfully developed cold-plunge equipment more accessible to residential and commercial customers without losing sight of quality, functionality, or long-term value.
We aim to strike the best practical balance between appearance, performance, durability, ease of use and price.
That means paying attention to details such as insulation, cleaning, maintenance, component quality and suitability for the product’s intended use. Our tubs are developed specifically for cold plunging rather than repurposed from unrelated applications, and models are tested before being offered to customers.
Customer feedback is an important part of that process. Questions, support conversations, and real-world customer experiences help us refine existing equipment and inform the development of new models.
We also consider the different requirements that may apply to residential, commercial, and health-regulated environments. Because requirements vary by location and installation, customers should always confirm local rules—but our goal is to offer equipment that can support as many real-world applications as reasonably possible.
